Church Road Yellow Lines for Christmas?

3 Dec 2011

A meeting of the Local Committee on Monday 5th December has agreed to accept an urgent item on its agenda concerning hazardous parking in Church Road, Epsom

A formal consultation has been hurried through, the statutory notices have been advertised and all that remains is to discuss objections received to the proposals for yellow lines and make a final decision. Theoretically the yellow line restrictions could go down before Christmas.

This will be good news to local residents and the Police who have regularly had to intervene. Residents and drivers have had to tolerate gridlock, traffic reversing out into Upper High Street and deal with many more problems associated with obstructive parking either side of the railway bridge. The road has regularly been reduced to single carriageway with no visibility possible of any oncoming traffic.

It is quite extraordinary how people who drive to Epsom to work will find absolutely anywhere to park, regardless of how dangerous it is and how much chaos it causes.
