Despite the eloquent pleas of a member of the public representing the parents of children attending the St Martin's pre-school playgroup, EEBC's Planning Committee voted to reject a proposal for refusal made by Cllr Colin Taylor and seconded by Cllr Nigel Pavey (both Lib Dem).

Colin proposed refusal on the basis that if masts can be refused near schools, logically they could be refused near pre-schools. However most RA members preferred to accept the officers' recommendation that in accordance with government policy the mast should be approved, because it would not be noticeable on top of the church and health fears should not be taken into account. Cllr Michael Arthur (RA) abstained.
