Lib Dem Success on Recycling of Furniture

Success!
Furniture recycling was agreed by Council on 12th December

Epsom's Lib Dem councillors have been successful in their "motion" to the Borough Council. There's more information on the council's website about recycling furniture via the British Heart Foundation.

A meeting of the Environment Committee on 1st November discussed how local residents could be better informed on how to re-use and recycle items of furniture and the results of this debate were agreed at a meeting of the full council on 12th December.

Cllr Colin Taylor told the council how they could be more pro-active. Many other local authorities have set up arrangements with charitable organisations and local businesses and publish this information on their websites. The outcome of his efforts is that more information is now available on the council's website, plus telephone numbers. Both Cllrs Colin Taylor and Julie Morris (who seconded Colin Taylor's "motion" to council on the subject), hope that this is just the start of the council undertaking serious and thorough research into the issue. The Lib Dems would like Epsom & Ewell to become one of the leading councils on recycling.
