Lib Dems call for Quicker Response by County Council

Surrey residents are waiting far too long for the County Council to respond

Liberal Democrats on Surrey County Council have called on the Council to respond much more quickly to enquiries and complaints.

Surrey residents have had to wait more than 20 working days for a response from the Transport & Highways Service, which missed the deadline in 70% of enquiries for the period April-June 2007. Only 31% of complaints made to the Families Service were dealt with within the deadline and it did not keep adequate records so that 60% of complaints had no record of the timescale of response!

County Councillor Colin Taylor (also Borough Councillor for Stamford Ward), who is chairman of the Lib Dem group, says this poor service to local residents is a consequence of the Conservative administration's Business Delivery Review which resulted in understaffing and overstretched staff who are unable to provide the service.
