Lib Dems champion a Climate Change Fund

1 Nov 2007

Lib Dem councillors Nigel Pavey and David Buxton have been successful in persuading the Borough Council to look at the benefits of putting money aside into a Climate Change Fund.

Lib Dems at a meeting of the Environment Committee on 31st October suggested that the council should follow others who have set up Climate Change Funds. In these cases money is set aside to pay for renewable energy sources - in public buildings for example - and to give grants to homeowners who want to go "green".

Cllr Nigel Pavey (Stamford Ward) told the Committee "I really think we should have something under our Promoting Sustainability & Tackling Issues of Climate Change heading which is more than just recycling." There was support from all parties on the issue.
