Liberal Democrats call for road repair to be inspected
A deep hole in Downs Hill Road has been repaired, but local activist, Diana Coman, questions the quality of the work done. Reported by Diana and logged on her internet site, see Related Link below, this hole was very deep and a hazard to cyclists and motorists.
"Whilst it has to be said that the hole is not the danger it was, the repair has not been done properly - the infill does not come up to the surrounding road surface, so there is still a drop as you drive over it. I have asked the Head of Surrey Highways to organize for the work to be inspected and I sincerely hope she will report that the work is not up to standard," said Diana.
Diana has been asking questions about how Surrey County Council monitor repairs. According to the Council, they have no way of monitoring re-repairs, so the Council does not know how many of the repairs it is doing are repairing potholes previously repaired. "I think the Council needs to smarted-up how it manages its contractor and keeps track of the work done," said Diana.
