New Cabinet Member Ed Davey MP Visits Epsom

4 Feb 2012

Friday 3rd February was a busy day for Ed Davey, Lib Dem MP for Kingston upon Thames. Not only was he appointed to the Cabinet as the new Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, but he also gave his first speech in his new role to Epsom & Ewell Liberal Democrats.

To be fair, he had been booked to speak at the Lib Dems annual constituency dinner for some months and it was actually touch and go as to whether he would make it!

Our information suggests that his day had begun in Surbiton, involved a trip to Eastbourne, back to London to his old offices, a move to his new offices at the Energy & Climate Change department, back to Surbiton, then to Epsom, and back to Surbiton.

After talking about a few of the acheivements of the Lib Dems through the Coalition Government, some of his own experiences in his previous government role and the challenges posed by his new role, Ed was happy to answer questions and then pose for photographs with the council group as well as chatting to many of the 50 or so party members present.
