Plans are underway to hold a number of events in Epsom & Ewell's newly created QEII spaces. The borough council has provided information packs to Friends of Parks groups and all residents are welcome to get involved.

QEII status has been afforded to Court Recreation Ground, Rosebery Park, Shadbolt Park, Alexandra Recreation Ground, Chessington Road Recreation Ground, Gibraltar Recreation Ground and The Warren. This will protect green sites for perpetuity, ensuring communities and future generations will always have access to them and is the result of a "Challenge" last year driven forward by HRH The Duke of Cambridge.

Each park will be holding its own event, big or small, probably during June. In Alexandra Rec plans are already well advanced, with a bowls open day, martial arts display and tennis exhibition match already confirmed. More details will be announced in due course and there will be plenty of publicity prior to the events.

Contact your local councillor to find out what's happening in your QEII park, particularly if you'd like to get involved, or get in touch with Mrs Sam Beak at the council on 01372 732000.
