Sites for Future Housing

2 Aug 2011

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council has embarked on a consultation, which will last 12 weeks from 1st August, giving residents the opportunity to comment on sites for future housing.

The Council has identified a number of potential housing sites. We are asked which sites we consider appropriate for future housing. The consultation sets out the advantages and disadvantages of each site and the background to the process. Visit www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/deliverydpd or follow the links from the home page.

Several sites have the potential to cause controversy. The Unigate Dairy in Alexandra Road and the Build Center opposite are amongst the 20 or so sites listed. These are presumably considered to have a limited shelf life, but there are certainly no planning applications associated with these two sites at the present time and both continue to operate successfully. The railway cutting land in Mill Road is also listed and several open spaces such as this may be considered to have the potential to become part of a green infrastructure within the borough. The Cox Lane Community Centre is in the list, as is a part of NESCOT. Swail House in Ashley Road also makes an appearance as does the site of the former Sefton Arms pub in Sefton Road.

Residents are urged to consider this document and send it views. Anyone with strong views about a particular site is welcome to contact their local councillor and details are on this website. The document is also available to view at the Town Hall and the borough's Libraries.
