Vince Cable speaks at Claygate

It was standing room only on Thursday evening, as Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable spoke in the village hall at Claygate.

Seating capacity there is 400, but despite the cold evening even more than that turned up to hear his message.

Later, Liberal Democrats in Caterham celebrated victory in two by-elections, one for their Parish Council and one for the Tandridge District Council.

Then came the news that the Lib Dems won all last night's by-elections nationally, taking seats from Tories, Labour and UKIP, the gain from UKIP with a spectacular 38.5% swing (LD up 60.2%, UKIP down 16.8%).
