Residents were particularly interested in the leaflet about what happens to all the goods recycled in Epsom and Ewell, everything from where they go to what they are made into. For example, did you know that 'Tetrapak' waxed cartons (which can be recycled in containers at the Sainsbury car park in Kiln Lane) go to Sweden to make plasterboard lining?

The Lib Dems are pressing the council to start doorstep collection of waxed cartons and other plastics.

In addition, flyers were also given out encouraging people not to use plastic bags - the Lib Dems want Epsom & Ewell to join the growing number of towns which are plastic-bag-free.

Signatures were also collected for a petition insisting that Britaniacrest waste lorries must be diverted away from the town centre, see Lib Dems' "Second Chance" Waste Lorry campaign.

Cllr Jonathan Lees also talks about what the Liberal Democrats are doing in Epsom High Street in February.
