Tackling that early morning Noise Pollution

1 Oct 2007

Lib Dem councillor Alison Kelly has written to all the haulage companies operating out of the Chalk Pit in College Road, asking them to observe speed limits and make sure their loads are secure early in the morning.

In response to several complaints from residents about speeding lorries which originate from this site, Alison has politely asked all the skip hire and construction company managers to ask their drivers to keep to the speed limit and ensure loads are not loose, really the only action which can be taken to keep noise levels at their lowest. No one company is singled out, but it is hoped that a reminder to drivers of these HGV will make life easier for residents whose properties are built very near to the road and who are disturbed by noise pollution. Please let Alison know if you think the situation has improved (or not!). And a big "thank you" to all the haulage companies for their efforts to deal with this problem.
