Tesco Confirm Plans for Horton Centre
A number of planning applications from Tesco Stores Ltd., classified as Minor, have been received by the borough council this week, confirming their intention to open a store in Units 1 and 2 of the Horton Centre.
The planning applications include the installation of an ATM unit, a new shopfront, internal plant and associated louvred panels, shopfront signage and internally-illuminated, free-standing gantry sign and non-illuminated car park signage. Minor applications do not normally come before the council's Planning Committee unless they are "called-in" by councillors.
In the case of Tesco setting up shop at the Horton Centre, residents living in the new estates nearby are known to be in favour. However, some concern has been expressed about Tesco's application for a licence to sell alcohol, which is a matter for the council's Licensing Committee. Immediate neighbours are also concerned about the timing of delivery trucks.
If you have a view, please let either Cllr David Morgan or Cllr David Buxton know as soon as possible.
