Upper High Street Development Site : public consultation extended

13 Jul 2012

Following a request from the Liberal Democrats and others, the closing date for comments has been extended until 21st September 2012.

With council meeting dates set a year in advance, a Planning Brief for this site will not now be formally adopted at the end of September. This leaves the site without the protection of a Planning Brief and local policy. However, if all comments can be considered and incorporated quickly after the closing date, there is no reason why a special meeting of the Strategy & Resources Committee cannot be convened before the scheduled one on 13th November. It may become urgent to get a Planning Brief in place, given that the Police Station site is currently under consideration by developers.
