Dear friends, welcome to our latest monthly update. It is in a slightly different format than normal since we want to give appropriate coverage to the ongoing shenanigans around the Council's draft Local Plan.

Dear friends, welcome to our first of our monthly updates on local (and some wider) news for 2023. We also post stories as they break on our Facebook page which you may wish to follow.
Liberal Democrat councillors are asking Epsom & Ewell Borough Council to delay the publication of the "regulation 18" part of its Local Plan from the current date of early February, so as to incorporate potential changes to the housing targets set by national government. It is expected that Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, will make changes to how local councils need to interpret housing targets, and the treatment of Green Belt land, and the implications of those changes are currently unclear. It is hoped to hear more from central government in the next few weeks.
At the County Council meeting in March this year Will Forster, Leader of Surrey Lib Dems proposed a council motion based on the respected road safety principles, known as Vision Zero.
There are 248,196 people waiting for NHS treatment in Surrey, according to research from the House of Commons Library, commissioned by the Liberal Democrats.
The Lib Dems have accused Surrey’s Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Lisa Townsend of failing on the basics, after a damning report from His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services.
