The Dairy Crest site in Alexandra Road, the Build Center opposite and the railway cutting land adjacent, are all considered to be potential sites for housing. A borough council public consultation, running until 24th October, suggests some 58 flats and houses are suitable for these three sites. After more than 10 years of talk and delays, it has now been announced that the final phase of the work on the underpass or "tunnel" linking Blenheim Road to Stones Road and Miles Road under the railway line will start on 3 October.
The Planning Committee has deferred a decision on an application to build an 82 bed hotel on the site of the Comrades Club in The Parade. The issue is likely to come back for decision in December and the developer has accepted the delay.
The borough council is piloting a new monthly market on the last Sunday of each month, starting in October, for local businesses, traders and budding entrepreneurs. It is hoped that the new market will encourage economic growth by supporting local industry, providing an opportunity for local traders and businesses to network and develop their trade in a sought-after town centre setting.
Epsom & Ewell Borough Council has embarked on a consultation, which will last 12 weeks from 1st August, giving residents the opportunity to comment on sites for future housing.
It will come as no surprise to head teachers and many parents that provision for children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) in Surrey has been heavily criticised by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission.
